“Beantown Bootcamp was just the push I needed to get back in to shape. I’d seen them around town Beacon Hill and the North End and classes always looked like so much fun. When I finally joined I was so glad I did. John keeps classes interesting, challenging and most of all fun. You never know what to expect but you always know that you’ll feel great after class. I pushed myself so much more than I could have on my own or at the gym. Thanks to Beantown Bootcamp I lost over 16 lbs in about 10 weeks. I feel great and I never thought getting in shape would be such a blast! Thanks, John!” |

“I started this program unable to run 1 mile. I now have completed two 5k’s as well as one 10k. After 5 months I am down 50lbs and I feel 10 years younger. I want to thank you for keeping me on track as well as keeping the class fresh, which motivates me to come back the next day. Beantown Bootcamp has changed my lifestyle and changed the way I look at life.”Wayne Partello

| “Joining Beantown Bootcamp and meeting John Wayman changed my life. In November 2006, I met John at his downtown office and completed a physical assessment. The results categorized my body as level (1) obese and at risk for health issues. As a 43 years old man I was in shock I needed to loose 44 pounds. I began to work out with the Bootcamp morning group twice a week. I also went into the gym and John assisted me as a personal trainer to begin weight and strength training. Slowly the weight came off, my energy level increased, and I felt real good about myself getting healthy. John gave me an eating plan that is pretty simple to follow. John monitored my weight weekly and provided me with the encouragement I need to meet goal.I still go to Beantown Bootcamp three mornings a week and I travel (30) miles at 5:30am to work out with a great group of people. I am down 40 pounds, have more muscle than fat and had to buy all new cloths. More importantly, my risk of health issues are greatly reduced as a result of this program. This is the best program and thanks to John for his support !” Joe Patuto |

I’m one of those people who has a gym membership that they pay for every month yet rarely see the inside of the gym. I go through phases and waves of self-motivation that get me intensely active at the gym and then, the gym and I seem to break up for months at a time. My roommate was doing bootcamp with John and though tough, she never said it wasn’t worth the effort and always came home energized and enthusiastic. I’m now on my second round with John and the other bootcampers. Bootcamp makes me feel good about myself and what I can accomplish. It makes me realize that what I was doing at the gym wasn’t me pushing myself. Bootcamp gives me the chance to test my limits and push myself beyond them - and for the record, I never regret going and have a lot of pride in myself everytime we finish a session. Kristen Risley |

I have finally found it! The one thing that keeps me exercising…Beantown Bootcamp. I tried the classes at the gym: yoga, aerobics, cardio-kickboxing, you name it. Bootcamp is different, and here’s why: 1. It’s social. I have made lots of friends. 2. It’s motivational. I never thought I would be physically able to do the things I am doing! 3. Noticeable Results. My body shape has changed. I’m toned, not flabby. 4. John Wayman is a great trainer. He encourages you, gives you advice, and cares about your results. Bootcamp is the best thing I have done for myself. I have love it so much that I’ve gotten my co-workers, college friends, and my roommate to join! And, I have just signed up for my 6th session! “I thought I was in shape until I took my first Beantown BC class! What a rush - running uphill backwards, squats until you pass out, push-ups – it was great! The first night was the hardest, but I’m a true believer now. I love the classes - they’re convenient, well-structured, and nonstop. I recommend this class to anyone looking for the “ultimate workout.” - Noreen Fiore, Age 31 |

I have been a member of Beantown Bootcamp since its inception, and I have recruited many friends along the way. John started out as my personal trainer so it was only natural that I would participate in his Bootcamp program. What is the draw? For me, it’s exercising outdoors. Running through the Common or along the Charles in a group setting provides an incentive for me work out. It’s definitely an option to consider if you are looking for a change from the gym. Training for triathlons had become boring due to the individual nature of the sport. This program (Beantown Bootcamp) challenged me in ways that I was neglecting with the normal swim, bike, and run routine. Through John’s use of plyometrics, multi-tempo/intensity running tactics and military style calisthenics, I have seen gains in endurance and speed not to mention finally pushing through my plateau for weight loss. Working with the group gives you the opportunity to push yourself more than you would when training alone and that gives you an edge in competition. Bottom line: Beantown Bootcamp will help you reach your fitness goals while having fun! Michael Augustine |

I may be a glutton for punishment, but I love John and Beantown Bootcamp! Whether you need to lose that final ten pounds or you have more ambitious goals, this is the perfect program. Not only do you get the best workout possible in an hour’s time, but during each bootcamp John is constantly filling our heads with helpful nutritional, exercise and form advice that are necessary to make the lifestyle changes needed for continued lifelong fitness success. It is a truly wonderful program and I have taken pleasure in both seeing myself and my fellow bootcampers improve beyond our expectations! Sylvia Vellino |

My old workouts had been getting boring, and this was the perfect thing to get me excited about fitness again. No two sessions are ever the same, which keeps it interesting and challenging — Just the thing you need to stay motivated. I will be sticking with this for as long as it’s offered…” -nc |

I started attending bootcamp in the fall of 2005 to prepare for a milestone birthday. It is now spring 2006 and I am hooked! Having gone through a couple of trainers- I am now a boot camp convert. I love the challenge, intensity, and variety that the class provides on a daily basis. Each student is encouraged to go at his/her own pace but also to work to their personal best. After each workout, I feel great that I accomplished something that I did not think that I could at the beginning of the class! What more can you ask from an exercise class? Danielle Gensler |

Whenever I thought I couldn’t get any lazier, I would. I joined a gym, and my avoidance “excuses” followed me there——-too busy, too tired, too far etc. It was way too easy not to commit. To make the goal of improved fitness happen for me, I had to strategize and inventory my personal motivation factors and draw on them and then use them to my advantage. John’s Beantown Bootcamp had my motivation factors in one package. The Bootcamp is challenging but has the easygoing social/camaraderie of like-minded individuals. Also, outdoor fresh air and scenery, convenient time schedule and most importantly; John as the coordinator/wellness adviser/drill sergeant. John has an innate knack of knowing when to get tough and when too ease up. John always stresses that you never compete with anyone else, you only strive to achieve your own fitness goals. Being a wellness coordinator, healthy advise oozes out of John’s mouth. When I reach for a juice instead of eating the whole fruit, I hear John saying, “Eat you calories, don’t drink them”. Less alcohol drinking, consistent whole-wheat/”real food” and flax seed consumption were unintended new habits of mine since starting the bootcamp sessions. John also demonstrates individual routines that can be done outside of the bootcamp sessions to augment and enhance what you’ll accomplish during the sessions. I know that I have found in John’s Beantown Bootcamp the incubator that has allowed me to experience and achieve my initial fitness/wellness goals. John continues to work with me to raise the bar to a fitness level status that this near fifty year old man never dreamed he could reclaim from his twenties. I feel and look better, and that’s just fine with me. Dave McM |

I started doing Beantown Bootcamp in the summer of 2005 with my sister Jody. Her friend told us about it and we thought that it would be fun to workout together outside for the summer. I had just finished training and running the 2005 Boston Marathon so I wanted to do something that would keep me in shape for the summer. I also wanted to do something in a group since I had spent 5 months training by myself. I had no idea what to expect on my first day of class because I had never taken any group exercise classes, except for spinning class at my gym. The first class was so hard and afterwards I thought I was going to die- but I loved it! I loved working out with a group and pushing myself. (Working out alone doesn’t really allow you to push yourself). Everyday that I had bootcamp, I would anticipate what John would have us do and we would never do the same thing, which was great. I’ve also seen my body change and I’ve gotten stronger and faster by participating in John’s Beantown Bootcamp. When I started training for the 2006 Boston Marathon, my pace was faster and my legs were stronger. This is all thanks to doing John’s bootcamp! I think that John’s Beantown Bootcamp is the best out there. John makes sure that whatever you do, you do it right and you get the most out of it. It’s a great way to get in or stay in shape. I almost moved to California but then realized I wouldn’t have bootcamp so I stayed. I am now addicted to John’s Beantown Bootcamp!! Jana Rayfield |
| John’s an entrepreneurial fitness guru who motivates the masses to get in shape and enjoy doing it. He’s not just a fitness instructor- he lives and breathes this life and derives extreme enjoyment from running through the streets of Boston pushing a baby carriage with a radio strapped to it, kicking his recruits’ butts. Take one class from John and, as you’re sprinting up Mt. Vernon St., you’ll have no doubt that you’ll soon be in the best shape of your life. RS |
